Getting to Know You

Getting To Know You

What is it?

Getting To Know You is a fun way of getting to know ladies in the church a little better. It is different from Secret Sisters because no gifts are expected. This is about spending some quality time a few times during the year and forming a new friendship or a deeper friendship. It is meant to be a time of no pressure, but more of a relaxed way of getting to know someone. We know lots of people on the surface but this is to get to know someone a little more. There are lots of ways to do things together without spending money, be creative and have fun!

Here's How It Works:

Everyone who would like to participate needs to fill out a Getting to Know You paper and give it to Jeanne or Stephanie. We will randomly be selecting names. You will be notified of your "new" friend. We will do this again in six months - that way if we have new people who want to join, they are able to do so.

We suggest that you try to meet a couple of times per quarter, if possible. The more women who participate, the more fun it will be. This is a great way to build new friendships. What you do together will depend on you and your interests. If you want to join families that is great as well.

Some suggestions for activities to do together are:

  • Take a walk together
  • Pray for each other/each other's families
  • Have Sabbath lunch together
  • Share a meal together
  • Visit a nursery
  • Share recipes
  • Go to a Street Faire
  • Go to a Quilt Shop
  • Go on a hike
  • Go to a ball game together with your families
  • Go to a movie
  • Visit a shut-in together
  • Do a craft together
  • Provide help in the kitchen at the school together for hot lunches
  • You can join other ladies doing Getting To Know You
  • Text or call each other to check in

Print the Getting To Know You form, fill it out, and turn it in to Jeanne or Stephanie.

The heartfelt counsel of a friend is as sweet as perfume and incense. Just as lotions and fragrance give sensual delight, a sweet friendship refreshes the soul. ~Proverbs 27:9
